Honored to interview Cheryl Creuzot about her new book, REAL LIVES REAL MONEY, in front of an audience of her closest friends including Tina Knowles-Lawson. A wonderful way to start the day.
Receiving the Houston Humanitarian Award for Random Acts of Kindness Day for my #YearOfJoy Project was incredible.
I'm completely and totally exhausted and my feet hurt, but I'm filled with so much joy. Today was an awesome celebration of girl power and community. I can't say "thank you" enough to friends and supporters who made today so special. Kali Sellars is THE baddest event planner in Houston. She made the #yearofjoy Wonder Woman bowling party rock. Thank you to Phyllis Bailey Sara Speer Selber who showed up early to help get it together, Deneice P. Leigh who brought her Wonder Woman models who spent hours on their costumes, Khrystyna Balushka who created the most beautiful flowers, Yellowcab that got the girls safely to and from the event for free, Bowlmor Lanes that donated the party room, bowling with superb service. And everyone who donated: Mandy Kao Chloe Dao Nyala Wright Nolen Madeleine Wright Yasmine Haddad Cindy Clifford Kuztom Kreationz Justsaycheese PhotoStudio Magic Twist balloon artist, Raw Party face painter, Lexis Florist, Dominique Furuta who donated the capes and cane in a Wonder Woman costume, What's The Occasion Linens & Decor, Three Brothers Bakery, KimKreationz, Traneisha Henderson, Bobbie's Wear. Incredible poems by Vascola Stoney and Alex from Meta-Four Houston Legacy Community Health - Montrose, spoken word poets Vascola Stoney and Alex with Meta-Four Houston.
Then to get a Humanitarian Award with my friends and brother Jon Sewing in the audience for my Year Of Joy projects afterward was incredible.
The only negative to a long joyful day was coming home to two pissed dogs. #yearofjoy
Yasmine Haddad is a true Wonder Woman. She dropped off all of this (including Wonder Woman paper goods and books) before heading into work as a dentist.
"Someone did things like this for me, and they made me who I am today. I know how powerful this is for your girls. I just want to see their smiles," she said. #yearofjoy
JOY LESSON: Joy is contagious
Ending the night stuffing Wonder Woman boxes with goodies. So excited about the #YearOfJoy Wonder Woman bowling party for 30 girls tomorrow. (Thank you to Bowlmor Lanes, Yellowcab and the many individuals who have donated financially or in kind.)
Also, tomorrow evening I'll receive the Houston Humanitarian Award, which is given to 10 people each year who are helping to spread kindness throughout the city. Likely one of the best awards I will have ever received. #yearofjoy
